Here is an image of a flat two dimensional surface that I have tried to make look as if it were a three dimensional object.  I first tried in color but the contrast and shadows just weren't there so I took it into black and white.

I took the image in a restaurant.  It is a stainless steel divider between booths and the texture was created by the use of grinding pads.  Lighting was  from a window behind me.  I think it turned out OK.

After leaving the restaurant I took the following images from one of my favorite spots.  We just had a fine dusting of snow with some of it having melted away.  I wanted show the contrast between the patchiness of the white snow, the yellow desert grasses and the dark desert shrubs.

I've always like power poles and power lines.  They are a natural line and can make for some good photo opportunities.
